Lose Weight Safely and Steadily after Giving Birth

Lose Weight Safely and Steadily after Giving Birth
Most women find it hard to lose weight and get back their pre-pregnancy bodies after giving birth.  Not all of us were gifted with fast metabolisms.  And certainly not all of us can regain our pre-pregnancy figures if we don’t commit to rigorous workouts.  Sadly, losing weight is not as easy as gaining it was during the nine-month period of carrying that precious baby - or babies - inside your tummy.

But for all mothers out there, especially those who have just given birth, you may want to try these practical and easy-to-do weight loss tips which have been tried and tested by those who needed to lose weight and successfully regained their pre-pregnancy bodies:

Breastfeed
Whilst it is true that breastfeeding is still the best for babies and no other formula milk can ever really substitute for a mother’s milk, this is also one of the best and easiest ways to lose weight and get back to your old shape.  Through breastfeeding, you are achieving three goals at the same time.  One, you are providing the necessary nutrients your precious baby needs.  Two, you are helping yourself bring back your pre-pregnancy figure in a steady, though slow, fashion.  And third, you are saving a reasonable amount of money.  How? By minimizing your expenses!  You do not have to buy formula milk if you are breastfeeding.  It is very expensive nowadays especially the hypo-allergenic type.  And you do not have to hire a physical instructor or get enrolled in a gym class to help you lose those unwanted pounds!

Do Household Chores
After taking it slowly for nine months, employing all the necessary precautions you need to avoid anything that could affect your pregnancy, the right time has come to buckle down to work -- at least in the home.  If you had a C-section or had a high-risk pregnancy, do not do this yet.  You have to regain your strength and consider your health first and foremost.  For those who had a no-worry type of pregnancy and delivery, you can immediately do this once you feel you are ready.  Move around, do household chores, burn those calories and lose weight.  Not only are you shedding excess fat, you can also help your husband or other family members and relieve their domestic workloads.

Exercise
You do not have to spend money and get enrolled in an aerobic class or other classes that offer weight loss programs.  This might help in achieving your goal, and give you a clear and steady program to follow.  You could even gain friends in your new class. However, you do not want to take your attention away from your child yet, do you?  Of course, you want to spend as much time as you can with baby, but you have your own needs too.  So why not buy a postpartum exercise DVD that you can play anytime you want and exercise right in your own home?  You can also buy a postpartum exercise book.

Take note that 24 hours after delivery, you can start doing Kegel exercises and deep diaphragmatic breathing.  After which, you can do the head lifts, leg slides and pelvic tilt. However, it is always good to make sure you consult your doctor first before doing any type of exercise, especially the strenuous types.

So - to all mothers out there, keep a positive attitude!  There is no better way to achieve your goal to lose weight, than by keeping a positive mind and heart.  If you want to lose weight and get back in shape, start now and start easy!
